When you run a business, one of the main focuses you will have is on your customers. After all, a happy customer will be one that may come back time and time again. Not just this, but a happy customer is likely to share an online review.  

Online reviews are becoming more and more commonplace, and they are something that you should be trying to encourage as much as you can as a business owner. But, why is this? Why are online reviews so important for business? 

It encourages others to buy from you 

Handing over your hard-earned money to a company that you have never used before can be daunting, especially if it is a more significant purchase or something really important to you. You may get lucky enough to know someone who has used them before and can share their experience, but what if you don’t?  

This is where the idea of online reviews comes into its own; with online reviews, you can see other people’s experiences, which, so long as they are reasonable, can help secure sales for your business.  

You will be visible 

The more people are talking about you as a business; the more people will see your business. If these are good things, positive reviews, then great. However, this can also have a negative impact on your business if it is a bad review.  

With this in mind, it makes sense that you need to do whatever you can to ensure that those who are talking are saying good things. Of course, you can’t please everyone, and if you are finding that you have a less than favourable review, then this isn’t the end of the world. Why? The next point covers this.  

It shows that you listen 

When you get some excellent feedback, this is your signal that things are going well, but what if something has gone wrong or isn’t quite what the customer wanted it to be? When this happens, you may end up getting a bad or neutral review.  

Rather than worrying about this and how it will reflect on your business, you can use these reviews as a way to show that you listen and then turn things around. Politely reply to the reviewer and let them know that you really value their thoughts and take their comments on board.  

This will let people know that you are willing to acknowledge an issue and make changes to help clients reach their end goal.
